thanks, Patrick -- if i can get over this win32lib hump i'm looking at playing. please bind the engine into an .exe. one question: if the .dat file gets "removed" at the beginning of each tournament, how can it be useful? in order to keep/build an AI best moves library, it should be able to write to the .dat file. or am i not seeing something...? thanks, Rob -- i guess i'm forgetting things in my middle, er... youthful age. -- jon

I'll do that. I've also fixed the problem it was bringing up, and un-modified versions of win32lib no longer complain. (Again, wait til tonight for an update. (it's 2pm now) ) > one question: if the .dat file gets "removed" at the beginning of each > tournament, how can it be useful? in order to keep/build an AI best moves > library, it should be able to write to the .dat file. or am i not seeing > something...? It gets removed at the beginning of a tournament, not at the beginning of a match. Otherwise, learning programs would keep getting better, and new programs would be disadvantaged. If your program has learned some definite things that you want to keep, you'll have to build them into the program file, as I'm only accepting a program file, not any extra data files. -- MrTrick
