I tried running exw.exe ide.exw from the Win XP command line,
and sure enough got the splash screen in 6 seconds or so.
It still took ages for the rest to come up, but I'm not sure what that 
means.....
I checked my .exw file associations - sure enough, linked to 
c:\euphoria\bin\exw.exe.
I double clicked on ide.exw - and it took over a minute to get the
splash screen and another couple to get running. Runs about the speed
of an old XP machine.
With the IDE running from the command line I tried executing a small
program from it - and it took ages (tens of seconds) to come up.
So, IMHO, it looks like the exw.exe doesn't like executing directly
under XP, but is happier to run from within a DOS environment.
Make what you will of it, but being in the UK it's time I went home.
I'll look again in the morning for any comments...
