For anyone interested in EuLinux, I've thrown together a webpage with a
bit of information about it:

EuLinux
A new distribution that is created with the Euphoria
(http://www.rapideuphoria.com) programming language in mind. It does not
require you to repartition your harddrive, and is absolutely free to
download.

3. EuLinux

Please give me your feedback on this.

--What is EuLinux?--
EuLinux is a linux distribution aimed towards Euphoria users. It is
currently under development, and can be downloaded freely. A cd will
also be made available for purchase.

--What does EuLinux include?--
The EuLinux system includes (tentatively):
    -the latest Linux kernel
-A full featured linux system with software gleaned from many
distros
    -Euphoria for Linux
    -XFree86
-A selection of desktop environments (KDE, gnome, fvwm)
    -GCC
    -PPP support
    -email/internet/irc/ftp software
-other software standard in most linux distros

The distro will be made available as a whole, which will probably total
60 mb, or in parts. The base system without any of the extras should be
~10mb. Other parts such as X or GCC can be downloaded separately at a
later time.

--What does the CD include?--
The EuLinux CD includes everything the downloadable version does, but
also includes all the User Contributions, the latest public domain
Euphoria, and probably all the linux how-to's, mini how-to's, FAQs, and
docs I can find, for those new users.

--What makes it so special?--
It's made special because of a few defining features:
    It doesn't require repartitioning.
    It's Euphoria related.
    It's free.
It's easy to get changes made; just ask me.
It's easy to install and easy to use.

--How is it any different from DosLinux?--
Well, it uses the same principle. But other than that, it's more or
less built from scratch, keeping Euphoria in mind. Of course, it's
probably going to end up looking like an updated version of DosLinux
with a couple new things installed, but after a certain point, all Linux
distros look the same =)

--Why a new distro? Why not adapt DosLinux?--
Because I'm a computer masochist and need to do things as painfully as
possible to get any satisfaction. And besides that, DosLinux's
structure doesn't really allow for too much adaptation, and Kent Robotti
won't respond to any email I send him. Making my own distribution
allows people on the list to discuss things they'd like to see in the
next release, and actually see them. It gives the community a lot more
flexibility to make changes.

--Where can I get it?--
Basically, you can't.
Not yet, anyways. I'll keep you posted. Contact me if you want to be
notified when it is released in some form or another.

--What if I want something put into EuLinux?--
Please, discuss it with everyone, see how other people feel about it. I
don't mind doing the dirty work, at least, until it gets overwhelming,
but I would love to see this turn into a community effort, where ideas,
contributions, etc. all add up to create a neat Euphoria-related
product.

--Are there any problems?--
I don't know. Probably.
I should have a pre-alpha release out before too long, and I'd love for
some brave souls to test it. Contact me if you'd like to help in
testing, or if you think you can help in any way.

--What version number is it at?--
Assuming 0.0.0 is nothing, 0.1.0 is the first alpha, 0.5.0 is beta, and
1.0.0 is the first stable, fully tested release, I'd have to say
0.0.0.1.

Currently, I have all the key things working, and everything else should
(in theory) fall into place. If you want the details, I've got the
initial setup ramdisk working okay. This ramdisk is just a barebones
(and I mean, bare) linux system that allows you to create an empty file
of a specified size, mount it as a loop device, and copy the EuLinux
system into it. As it is, I can create the ramdisk, and manually create
the loopback device, and copy files to it.

Tell me what you think,
Greg Phillips

Even for a perenially broke person like me, it looks interesting. I assume
that since Gnome is on the distro, it also include the GTK+ libraries, since
this is what I'm currently dabbling in.

It's free to download, free to distribute, free to feed to your cat, whatever.
Buying the CD is just an option.
And yes, the GTK+ will be included, as well as a few other libs (GraphApp, for
example) that people have shown interest in over the past while.
