1. Euphoria has a long way to go!

>>> Euphoria has a long way to go!

Euphoria has come a LONG way!

Considering we aren't talking a 24 x 7 team of key bangers paid by microsoft
or others. Let's don't forget that Euphoria was designed to be a "simple"
language to accomplish complex tasks.

An input box is actually a simple task compared to the memory management
(when there aren't leaks), function calls without worring about pointers,
etc. Thanks, Rob and others for bringing Euphoria along.

I develop complex Access databases - Law school student information systems
(registering, grading, transcripts, etc.), automated furniture delivery
systems for Rent-A-Center, etc. I don't use Euphoria yet because of the
reporting functions. But you don't see me whining about it! If I were
smart enough, I would write that myself. So, I wait for the REAL
programmers to come through.

Stop whining - start writing.

Why? What is it that in your opinion is missing from Euphoria?

3. Re: Euphoria has a long way to go!

hey all,
Heres my 2 cents. C was created in 1972, but it didn't get ANSI standardized
untill 1988...thats 16 years.Plus 2003-1988, another
15 years, a total of 31 years. Euphoria, on the other hand, was created in
1993, a total of 10 years. 10 years shows that Euphoria has been
stable enough to withstand the test of time, yet its young enough to
be added to. Just like c was added to:(c++,visual c++,c#). Our task
is to add the functionality that we want, we shouldn't view that as
R.Craig's job.
But I'm the wrong person to ask, I learned to program through
Euphoria(and I'm still learning), but its the language that got
me started...so I'm a bit fanatical about it.
I'm not necessarily replying to anyones post, just jumping at the
oppurtunity to advocate euphoria again. So please, have a good day!!!
