Tweak UI is some additional stuff, but the DOS functionality is one of the main features of MS Windows, so I still think it is OS itself. OS parses autoexec.bat. > > > > They are ignored if they are empty. So, XP supports the real mode DOS programs and the protected mode DOS32 programs. I am saying about XP VDM modes. You can run not single VDM on XP. They all use the same autoexec.bat. And you can load *pure real mode DOS*, say, from floppy, onto that P4 box, which usually runs XP. No, it seems to be. My autoexec.bat, not empty, sits on my friend's XP box and does its job. I have tried the SET command. The current environment variables get the additional parameters, which repeat the settings of the current autoexec.bat. Really, "(but then why are they there...?)" ???? Maybe, I do not know, restarting worked, that box was personal one. Regards, Igor Kachan kinz at peterlink.ru
