MS do have a "good" set of products ... maybe not the "best" of any
one product but would be in the top 5 of each category they are in(after
2 or 3 releases!).

MS's great success has been it's marketing machine.
Think about .NET ... it has been talked about for years already
and has only been released in the last couple of months.
Bill Gates and Microsoft have probably done two world tours
pronmoting it already (of which I went and saw him here in Australia
last year - I just had to!).

Ms also make it easy to get started with an application ...
installation and initial setup of pretty much any product can be done
by someone who knows next to nothing ... it's often after this that
the short cummings of some of the MS products appear and other's
products features shine.
