1. Euphoria Contests (future and present)

I know I should'nt bring the subject up before the 2nd and 3rd contests have been judged but .... I think the contests are a great idea and hope that the tradition lives on. I don't think it would be possible to have regular contests with the euMoney prizes, I'd be happy still participating just for the fun alone. For me personally I'm happy with the smaller sized contests at the level of the current contest 1 or 2. I just don't have the time to even try the large contests. I think a small contest every second month would be great. That gives everyone a month to do it, and the next month can be used for judging and discussing algorithms and effieciency of the entries. I still think it would be great if RDS still run a major contest like the current one once or twice a year if they are able to. I also would like to see entries listed in order of merit once judged. Would anyone mind to see their name last on the list? Woudn't worry me :) So ... what are peoples opinions of the current and future contests? Ray Smith http://rays-web.com

Hullo, I do like the idea! I'm very excited about the topic of the next contest and I am very angry that I didn't submitted my program for contest #2. It's in pure Euphoria but it works and I could have been in the top 10! < So what will be the next contest? Ahm... and one more thing. Even without cash prize I would be happy to see announcements on the Euphoria website like: "I'd need an include file with HTML2CSS(s1,s2) procedure where the submitted s1 HTML 3.2 file should be rewritten as s2 according to the 4.1 specification. Depriciated things should be included in an external CSS file. It should be as fast as it's possible and after the conversion they should look preferably the same ..." I am only a hobby programmer but from time to time I have some time. I'd work on simple(!) things but I am too lazy to search the EUforum for such announcements or to open an IDE.EXW and think whether I could optimize any of the functions there. It would be useful for some projects, wouldn't it? With regards, Salix

I would like to know at which position I am in contest #2 once results are known. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ray Smith" <smithr at ix.net.au> To: "EUforum" <EUforum at topica.com> Subject: Euphoria Contests (future and present) > > I know I should'nt bring the subject up before the 2nd and 3rd > contests have been judged but .... > > I think the contests are a great idea and hope that the tradition lives > on. > > I don't think it would be possible to have regular contests with the > euMoney prizes, I'd be happy still participating just for the fun > alone. > > For me personally I'm happy with the smaller sized contests at the > level of the current contest 1 or 2. > I just don't have the time to even try the large contests. > > I think a small contest every second month would be great.
