Dear EU users, Today, (maybe just 1st April ?) I was downloading some files from MS site. I used the following .bat file : rem begin of file.bat graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/932.txt >932.txt graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/936.txt >936.txt graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/949.txt >949.txt graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/950.txt >950.txt rem end of fille.bat 932.txt is 361K, 936.txt is 872K, 949.txt is 1270K, 950.txt is 705K of descriptions of the eastern code pages. After downloading, I have noticed the 950.txt file is corrupted, without the end, others are good. I edit my file.bat and get : rem begin of file.bat rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/932.txt >932.txt rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/936.txt >936.txt rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/949.txt >949.txt graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/950.txt >950.txt rem end of fille.bat I ran this corrected file.bat and got a good 950.txt (about Chinese). But I also got 932.txt, 936.txt and 949.txt *with 0 bytes each* instead of my good ones. * Windows doesn't understand the *rem* command in this case, it seems to be. * The lines of batch: rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/932.txt >932.txt rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/936.txt >936.txt rem graburl http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/949.txt >949.txt just rewrote my good files with empty ones. And I think, is that the *standard redirection* on Windows ? My Windows is 95 OSR2 Russian, but how about NT, 2000, ME, X, XX ... ? Regards, Igor Kachan kinz at peterlink.ru

Thanks, Pete, for the good news. News are really good -- a powerful feature is better than nasty bug. And feature is really powerful -- 40 minutes online to reload deleted files -- plain text is much better than just zip, no ? 1st, April, MS, Windows, qualify quality Regards, Igor Kachan kinz at peterlink.ru ---------- > Îò: petelomax at blueyonder.co.uk > Êîìó: EUforum <EUforum at topica.com> > Òåìà: Re: ?Bug? or ?Feature? > Äàòà: Monday, April 01, 2002 21:43 > > > On Mon, 1 Apr 2002 18:26:48 +0400, Igor Kachan <kinz at peterlink.ru> > wrote: > > Yep, see > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q26281 > > M$ clearly have no plans to fix it.
