1. Win -> Linux

Hi All,

I have been using Windows for ages but also have been using Mandrake
Linux 9.0 for a while. The intention is to move any critical business
functions and data from buggy/insecure Windows to the relative safety of
Linux / BSD. As part of that process I am porting a large project from
VB5 to Euphoria.

Once I had a version running under Win32, it only took a few small
changes to make it work under Linux. The "dir" function works
differently in Linux, x = dir("*") wont return anything even though it
works on the command line !!

Try Mozilla its very much like NetScape, Konqueror is also OK but does
not work with all web sites especially ones that use M$ Stuff like ASP.

You also might look at Windows emulators like Wine,

Does anyone know how to setup a mail server on Mandrake Linux ??

The reason that dir("*") doesn't work, is that the shell translates the *
into what it should be.

The * is handled by the shell, not the kernel (I think.... correct me if
wrong)

So, you need to send a command via the shell, or call and parse system("ls >
yourtestfile.txt"), or something like that.

I wrote a simple include file for that. It had ldir() which would go thru
the shell to translate wildcards, and then it would also return extended
attributes.

Outlook Users, please don't put my email address in your address book. That way,
my email address won't appear in forged emails sent by email viruses. (Which are
technically worms btw :P)
