1. Causeway DOS extender error
Hello All
Euphoria is great. My installer is running successfully
on thousands of machines.
But not on every machine. A student came in with off-brand
laptop, DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11. When she tried to run the
installer she got
CauseWay DOS Extender v3.14
Exception 0E, Error code 06
InfoFlags 00008042
remming out the pgms loaded in AUTOEXEC.BAT didn't help
remming out the statement that loaded PMEXT.SYS in CONFIG.SYS
solved the problem.
She's running now. I'd like to build the installer so it
doesn't trip on this again. Any idea what happened to
CauseWay?
thanks

I searched the WEB for PMEXT.SYS and found that it is
shipped with many portable PCs. This "Real Mode Time Updater"
file seems to be required to update the clock after
the system has been in suspend mode. Apparently there may be a newer
version of PMEXT.SYS on the Internet that will work better.
I contacted Michael Devore, the Causeway guy. He says he can't
debug this problem without the CW.ERR file that was produced when
this error occurred. If you send it to me, I'll pass it to him along
with some other debug info he needs from me.

I'll remember that the CW.ERR file is needed in the future. The
user took the file home with the computer & I don't have a copy!
Thanks for the response.

The PMEXT.SYS file isn't needed anymore
with Windows 95. It will gradually fade out of existence.
