I am totally new to the linux world. Does anyone know where to put PATH

2. Re: PATH and EUDIR in linux

Depending on your distro, it may be in either your home directory, or the /etc
directory. The file is usually profile or bash_profile, but may be login or
bash_login. The file often has a period in front of it to make it a hidden file,
but can be edited the same as any other file. Don't forget to "export" both PATH
and EUDIR. To activate the variables, you have to log out and log back in (no
need to reboot). To check the status, type echo $EUDIR or echo $PATH at the
command prompt. They should spit back the correct names.
