Hi, I'm searching for an *true* freeware e-mail validator. I couldn't find anything in the EU archive. May be someone has a hint? Thanks, and have a nice day, Rolf ---------------------------------------------------- | Dr.Rolf Schröder | Phone : +49-(0)40-724-4650 | | Möörkenweg 37 | Fax : +49-(0)721-151-577722 | | 21029 Hamburg | mailto:Rolf at RSchr.de | | Deutschland | http://rschr.de | | Earth |-------------------------------| | Solar System | E B | | Milky Way | C | | Local Group | D | | Known Universe | A | ----------------------------------------------------

Hi Rolf, three of my programs, which are used by many people, contain code that checks whether a file has a valid e-mail _header_. Search for "mbox" in the archives. The concerning functions are read_mail_header() and looks_like_mail_header() in the file "mail.e". Pretty simple, but works very well for the purpose of the programs. However, I don't have code that checks whether attachments or other MIME parts in the body of a mail are syntactically correct. Nor do I know a free program that does so. Regards, Juergen

Hi Jürgen, an e-mail-validator should check: 1) syntax (simple), 2) domain (also relative simple), 3) mail server (I don't know), 3) mailbox of user (I don't know). These kind of programs exist, but what I found in the Internet is not freeware, it's always shareware. If you have to administrate a collection of e-mail-addresses, it's quite useful to exclude time by time 'dead' addresses. Are your programs useful for this task? I asumed someone knows about a free program. I haven't tested this, but it's free and I think is worth a try: http://toolsandmore.biz/Central/Produkte/Software/Internet/E-Mail/Croque-Mort/ (German page -- sorry to the other readers). Hi Jürgen, that's indeed a true freeware (though a simple one)! Better than nothing. Thank you very much.
