a system function that doesn't invoke a new instance of
command.com? executes DOS commands within the shell that
ex.exe and {user program} are running within?
*YES* pretty please?
by the by... wouldn't this allow euphoria to actually,
in effect, become a TSR? i can see a few benefits
if so... *drool*

I would very much like to be able to. I'm running a Win95
network between my computer and my wife's. it allows us
to play multiplayer (generally teamed, not antagonistic :) )
and allows us both the ability to use one phoneline and
we can both surf (via wingate proxy). whilst I am
writing a game for us to play we are currently designing,
the ability to pass info between computers would take the
game from single to multiplayer. yes, i "should" write
ipx to do this... ummmm ipx is _hard_ to program for...
no neat euphoria .e file so far either... someone
(i'm sorry i forgot who you were) was very kind and sent
me IPX for BASIC... the translation is turtle crawlingly
slow... shared data i can do, and it opens up unlimited
multiplayer numbers instead of IPX being like 8 or 16 player.
opens up net play since you can map a drive letter to
an IP address/directory as well (provided you have gotten
share permission from the server...simple tho)
sharing/locking could be handy, for me, yes
