IMHO it's just another way of handling data. In one case, approach A may be more appropriate or elegant for handling your data properly, and in another case approach B may be more appropriate. On the most basic level (at least concerning the standard computers that we have on our desktiops), any information is expressed as sequence of bits, and a bit is a 'two-valued variable'. So maybe three-valued logic can be considered as just a special level of abstraction. Regards, Juergen
