OK. But then, I think "semiotics" is a discipline, and so it's not really
meaningful to speak about its "versions".
Moreover, semiotics as a discipline is already applied to programming
languages. As a matter of fact, two professors and me are teaching "Theory
of Programming Languages" at a local University. Semiotics comprises syntax,
semantics and pragmatics. In the course, we briefly mention this division,
and then concentrate first on syntax in a 3-month course, and then semantics
in another course. Pragmatics is left to the exercises...;)
Regretfully, there are several books on general programming languages
syntax, but practically none on semantics (one of the two other teachers is
practically "inventing" the course). If you know about some books, please
tell me.
