Your local library or High School teacher should be able to put you onto any number of math books covering circular sections. These include parabolas, hyperbolas and circular arcs. The path of an artillery shell through a vacuum is a parabola, when you add air resistance you get an elongated path. Of course on a monitor in a game the projectile path is mostly for show. A parabola will appear more realistic. You will need the linear trig. functions you mentioned but a little deeper math is required to describe a non-linear line. It isn't really difficult, but it also isn't a 5 minute lookup either. If you explain your purpose to the librarian or math teacher, it should save you from being directed to a book that will drown you in theory. Thanks for your time. Hello all, Does anyone know anything about trigonometry? I am interested in making a "dueling artillery" game but cannot fathom the math needed to plot arcs. I know that it has something to do with arc, tan, and cos (?) but what?! So this is a call to all you mathematicians on the list ;) Thanks a lot, David S.
