The 2.5 official release is now available. It has several small enhancements and bug fixes. It will hopefully prove to be a stable release that we can live with for a while. If not, there's always 2.5.1 ... Suggestions for the next big release are welcome. You can read the 2.5 release notes here: http://www.rapideuphoria.com/relnotes.htm You can download the code here: http://www.rapideuphoria.com/v20.htm Those who registered or upgraded for the alpha or beta release can download new (official) versions of the registered files using the same instructions as before. You implemented Matt Lewis's callback system in the source. My own custom interpreter had that.. but now I dont need to implement it again for the Official source. :) The 2 new features in the translator are really cool.. The -keep option is a nice.. though before, I just backup the C files if I needed them afterwords. The -fastfp is really cool. If you have like a 80387 Coprocessor (on a 386 machine), you can use translated/compiled DOS programs. The 2x speed up is awesome, specially for custom PD source interpreters. And it would benifit me because I use Open Watcom v1.3 for DOS and Windows. Thanks :} Euphoria v2.5 Rocks!!!

Thanks Rob! If it wasn't for Euphoria I'd be producing a lot less programs due to the time it takes to do things in other languages compared to Euphoria. One very minor gripe though, when we run e25setup.exe and it creates the backup directory and one already exists the installer prompts us for EVERY SINGLE FILE it's overwriting. Now checking to see if the backup should be overwritten is a good thing but having to hit "OK" for every file takes a lot of time especially when you keep a lot of includes in your directory.

It's very interesting that you added the time for 'eu in eu' to "bench.doc": <quote> eu in eu 7.15 - PD source Euphoria translated/compiled to eu.exe erlang 7.16 lua 8.70 pike 10.36 python 14.33 icon 15.12 perl 16.36 [...] 3. If you are looking for an open source language to modify, observe that even the Public Domain source version of Euphoria, written 100% in Euphoria, can run twice as fast as Python or Perl which are both written in C. Which source would you prefer to modify and debug? Which speed would you like to have for your modified interpreter? </quote> Awesome! Regards, Juergen
