Hi there Bernie,
I am designing a piece of hardware that works external to the PC
and i wanted to use the serial port because it will work with
older computers too and it's going to be rather inexpensive, while
the USB interface adds cost to the project which i want to avoid.
If the end user wishes to use USB rather than serial and they dont
mind a little extra cost then they are welcome to purchase a serial
to USB adapter which have come down significantly in price recently.
