When you send the above code, point out where this isn't working, and I'll look at it also.

I just took a look at Spectre Setup, and took a look at the "About" dialog: Project Designer v2.09 (c) 2000 Spectre Software Programmed by Pete King Web Site: WWW.SPECTRESOFTWARE.CO.UK Email:EMAIL at SPECTRESOFTWARE.CO.UK Now, I could have *sworn* that Pete was using Win32Lib to code it, since I was just trying to track down a bug he reported a couple of days ago. And in the Win32Lib documentation, it says that you're supposed to include the little blurb: "Developed using David Cuny's Win32Lib" in the "About..." dialog. I know it's a *lot* to ask for, but... Hrm. Quite puzzling. -- David Cuny

Sorry David you are quite right, I am using the win32lib... I will add your name in the next release for sure, and that goes for all my current applications (file examiner and xcom interceptor editor). I hope you are not offended by these omissions. I have just checked over the docs and it looks like I owe you some registered versions too! [I will email you tomorrow] Guess I should actually read the "blurb" for once! I apologise and regret this deeply. I was just playing with the Spectre Setup Program, nice piece of work. There is a couple of things I would like to comment on. 1) The Password that I keyed in is not kept, instead it changes it to be equal to the Project Name. 2) I would like to see the name of the final setup program be equal to the Project Name. 3) In order to add a folder you have to open that folder and then choose a file in that folder. Would like to see it where I could just click on that folder and press the button to add that folder and all of it's content. 4) Would be nice to be able to choose a default folder and program group to install into. Then allow the user to change that default, like most install programs do. Other than that I am impressed with it so far, keep up the GOOD work. Later, Ferlin

A bug I noticed, it only does this if you reload a project into the designer after it has been saved once. I have fixed this but not uploaded the fixed version yet, as I would like to add some more features first, unless the demand is really there. > >2) I would like to see the name of the final setup program be equal to > the Project Name. > Well after the setup is created, you can rename it to anything you like (Setup3.exe was my reference, but Setup.exe is a good bet as winzip will recognize this and launch it instead of unzipping). >3) In order to add a folder you have to open that folder and then choose > a file in that folder. Clicking on a folder only opens the folder. What is needed is a DIRECTORY TREE or something, but thats as and when Dave Cuny programs the wrapper for this. >4) Would be nice to be able to choose a default folder and program group > to install into. Then allow the user to change that default, like most > install programs do. Problems with creating shortcuts make this impracticle. If you want shortcuts to appear on the start menu (other than uninstall) you must make these beforehand, and this means the program cant change location or the shortcuts are rendered invalid. > >Other than that I am impressed with it so far, keep up the GOOD work. > Thanks for your comments and questions. Spectre Setup, as you can imagine, will be an ongoing project, and I welcome any opinions on new features. Pete King, Spectre Software.
