I must agree with Irv, those images are spectacular. Are you going to =
make the program that generated them publicly available? Or at least give =
us a little hint, please....

If I can't get my hands on the program, I'd at very least be interested in
buying a print.

3. Re: Martin's Art

Hi everyone
I'm happy that people are enjoying my pictures - very pleased in fact.

I've thought about posting the program that drew the lines - but it's
basically just a bunch of library routines with a bit of a code to launch
it - there's no GUI, or even UI, at all. So it's not really usable unless
you read all the libraries. Many of you might find my code good for a laugh,
because it's pretty crude, but otherwise it'd be dry reading. It would be a
good example of a certain kind of hacking.

If people are interested in the program on that basis, then I'll get a
package together with some docs, and post it in a few days. If anyone is
interested in actually making a UI or GUI for it, then that would be pretty
cool. There are a number of other enhancements that could be done too - if
people are looking for programming projects. There are a number of things
that I've thought could be done with this - from games to screensavers - but
when it comes right down to it, I'll probably not get around to it, and
others are certainly welcome to do something with it themselves, and we can
collaborate.

I'm an artist, and these images are going towards my current body of work.
My plan is to make about a hundred different finished images and then choose
from among those a group to use in an exhibition. With any luck, I'll be
able to get a number of galleries to start carrying my work. I've tried
before, with work I've thought was as good - to no avail. I confess that
this is frustrating and perplexing - because people have often liked my work
in the past, and I've sold lots - but success in the art world is not
something that I can approach directly I guess. This is not so much of a
problem - art is kind of an industry, and there are lots of niches in it. At
present I make my living as a kind of consultant and assistant to artists
who are doing very well for themselves. I print for them, and build computer
networks and websites, and crit their work as it grows so they can get
feedback, and lots of other things. It gives me lots of freedom, but keeps
me really busy. I just like making pictures, and am pretty happy to just let
them find their own way in the marketplace, or not.

The images you've seen are not the raw Euphoria output by any means - that
output is extensively modified using graphics software to produce the
results you've seen. The final prints will be big inkjet guys - on archival
paper, and with archival inks - guaranteed to last for hundreds of years.
Some of the final prints will be hand made lithographs, because I'm a
printmaker, and I know a number of exciting ways of making hand-made
computer prints - maybe a bit of a paradox.

If people wanted to buy prints, then that is easily arranged. Just ask. At
this stage, I can provide 11 x 17 inch laser prints of my working files to
members of the Euphoria list for $20(US). These are not to be considered
archival prints, or even final states of the images - but are beautiful
enough for all that and will in fact last for many years under normal room
light (out of the sun). The prints are also quite a bit higher resolution
than you get on the website (400 to 600 dpi).

Bye
Martin Hunt
