1. Euphoria Tutorial

Alot of people have been asking for a tutorial on Euphoria, and the best
people can say is "Examine the code". Whilst there is a tutorial for Win32,
I thought I'd create one for DOS - learn to program in Euphoria whilst
making a game (which will end up being the game I'm working on now).

The first two sections of the tutorial exist, dealing with the very basics of
Euphoria - explaining sequences and so on. Whilst the two first parts deal
with the very basics of programming, hopefully it will also appeal to those
who understand Euphoria, but would like to learn how to create a game.

Around each week new parts will be added to it.

I'd like to see what you think about it so far. It can be downloaded via
http://www2.50megs.com/sonic/mobius/eusonic.zip
It is a Windows help file, and a 10K download.

I'm open to all suggestions, criticisms, fan mail, hate mail, and whatever
you care to throw at me.

Thanks
Peter Millan

2. Re: Euphoria Tutorial

I would just like to say thank you. I have been looking for tutorials for
a while now. I am also putting together one for games Using WinLib32.
It will be a while before it is together though. I still have some things
to learn myself.

3. Re: Euphoria Tutorial

Hi Pete.

I just checked out your tutorial and I think it is really cool.

I like your idea of doing it in installments with a completed
program as the final goal.

Great stuff. Keep up the good work

4. Re: Euphoria Tutorial

Hi Peter,

I tried to download your tutorial with no success so far, but I'll try again
later.

You're probably aware of the classic ABGTE2 from David Alan Gay, aren't you?
It's in the Archive ( www.rapideuphoria.com/exestuff.htm ), where you can
find it using the obvious keywords "tutorial dos" (in eighth position then,
as today). Its proprietary format is not its best, as it doesn't allow
searching, and you can't remember the whole thing when you're still a
beginner. I imported this into my word processor (Lotus WordPro) and am
building up some reference tables (extended TOC, equivalences with qBasic,
demos). If you want a copy (it's not complete), tell me your favorite
formats in ranked order (.txt last!) , I possibly have a filter for some of
them. I'm looking forward to seeing yours.

Best regards
Alain Sellier
