1. Exercism (again)

Okay, I've realized that I just don't have the expertise (yet) to set up the UX side of things (it involves CI/CD and Docker and that's just too much right now).

So what I'm proposing to get OE onto Exercism is to target the CLI interface and let the rest of you, once you're au fait with how the community and the software work, figure out how to get the UX approach working.

In the next day or two I'll ask Exercism admins to create a repo for OE. This is where you all come in.

First up, if you're wanting to get involved, create a profile for yourself at https://forum.exercism.org/. Do the same at https://exercism.org/ . If you already have a GitHub presence all the better.

We'll all be involved in the processes described in https://exercism.org/docs/building/tracks . The documentation will need to written and "Practice exercises" written (Concept exercises are a different thing and I'm not going there). There is a standard set of practice exercises at https://github.com/exercism/problem-specifications/tree/main/exercises .

It should take us about a month to get the minimum 20 exercises up and launched. If we launch with 40 exercises, all the better. Please note that you'll need to write both the exercise and the tests. Seeing as we already have a unit test framework, that won't be hard. See some of the other languages' repos, e.g. https://github.com/exercism/zig to see where we need to go in terms of exercise and test.

Some of you should sign up as mentors so that students actually get the mentoring they'll need to get anywhere with OE.

If there's anything else you want to know, see the documentation at https://exercism.org/docs . I'll be around in any case.

I do have a fairly good idea about what I'm suggesting. I'm the maintainer for the vbnet track and one of the leaders of the maintenace team for the cobol track.

Request submitted: https://github.com/exercism/request-new-language-track/issues/145

Obviously, if I've said something wrong, now's the time to correct me.
