Definitely not a pressing concern, but are there plans to allow custom selection of font/background/keyword colors?

Good idea. I've added it to the todo list. A short-term solution might be to store the colors in the wee.conf file, and let the user edit it by hand. Long-term would be a preferences dialog with color picker.
