Here is a fresh draft of the o[ user manual.
Viewable pdf from google drive
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4wfRhusHmUbMDA3ZUFMcldEVk0/edit?usp=sharing
A zipped version of the same file
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4wfRhusHmUbUGcyU1ZTUnJNNDA/edit?usp=sharing
I chopped up the documentation into small files to make my editing task simpler. As a result lots of details are broken.
The process is text --> eudoc --> creole --> wkhtmltopdf -----> pdf

What part of your documentation version has "alternative literals" specific documentation?

I don't conciously think about that anymore than thinking about what part of the documentation is for the 'no DOS' branch or for the 'multi-assign branch.' When it finally gets merged it in, it will all be there.

I am interested in getting a head start on this part of the documentation. If you can provide some rough notes etc., I can do some of the "writing part" of getting stuff into the docs.

Okay, have a look at
- What's new in 4.1 http://canada.host-ed.me/al/docs/whatsnew4_1.html#_17_whatsnewin41
- Builtins http://canada.host-ed.me/al/docs/builtins.html#_729_builtinroutines
- See the mismatched_literals warning http://canada.host-ed.me/al/docs/lang_toplevel.html#_184_specialtoplevelstatements
- See Release 4.1.0 http://canada.host-ed.me/al/docs/release_4_1_0.html#_6660_version410datetbd
I see some of this could be integrated into Assignment statement section (http://canada.host-ed.me/al/docs/lang_assignment.html#_148_assignmentstatement).
