1. Showcase application for Euphoria?

Is there a showcase application for Euphoria, one that will make programmers of other languages (or even simple users) sit up and pay attention?
Anyway, what are the best applications ever written in Euphoria? If we were to prepare a hit parade, which application would you want to see included?

There may be some discussion as to what the term "best" means ;)
However, if one searches the archive, you do get the voting points which gives an indication,
at least by the Euphoria example downloaders.
IIRC Euphoria favourites were the IDE mostly by Judith Evans and Win32lib by mostly Derek Parnell.
Both are intended for Euphoria development and not apps that non-Euphorians would be interested in.
You should be able to find a few other contributions that do appeal to a broader audience though.
Cheers, Alan

Wow! I had no idea. Do we know if anyone from this community had a hand in that?

Yes, Nexus Radio is the excellent program. It is v5.6.6 now, the Euphoria thing. Works on my PB with Win7-64.
Please, go to:

I'm working on a new open source graphing calculator program, which will have it's own website. My hope is that it will not only be useful for students, programmers, and engineers, but also draw people in to the Euphoria community. I will reveal the name and website very soon!

The really eye-catching software showcasing Euphoria were games and graphics demos. For DOS and the older Windows platforms, there are countless games written (many still in the archive) which show really how fast Euphoria is. Unfortunately, many games from the early days don't run on current operating systems, but run happily under virtualization / emulation.
I recall Fred Ransom having commented a few years back about writing commercial software using Euphoria, and it working well for him. I'll bet there are quite a few compiled Euphoria applications happily running out there, with customers not realizing that they're running Euphoria.
Jonas Temple wrote an interesting free commercial-grade application FROG, which was a friendly Windows front-end to browsing databases and objects on IBM's AS/400.
This website is also an impressive testament to Euphoria (and so is rapideuphoria.com). Rob Craig (Euphoria's creator) at one time also created a commercial list-filtering service using (I think) Euphoria.
Personally, I created a queue management system server using Euphoria. Queue management systems are typically used in counter services such as banks, where queue tickets are issued, and customers called when an agent was ready to serve them. What was special about this queue management server was that it ran from a single executable and used very little system resources.

Yup. I have two sold, and one bundled with a large software providers' offering, to ensure the deal went through.
But they are very much niche programs.. The customers didn't really care as to the dev language, they wanted something that works,
works fast, doesn't crash, didn't need co-requisites (dll's, extra Oracle instances etc) ,
and not least, that it could be modified quickly to include those last minute changes.
As a side note: how many of us have heard something like "Yes, that's what I said, but that's not what I meant" Sigh!
Since the copyright remains with my previous employer, the customers didn't get source code, so the dev language was unimportant.
Cheers, Alan

I don't that I had much of a hand in it, but I remember helping him in the early stages with some testing. I still have some of the early code.
