I think you will find that Phix is a compiler not an interpreter.
I seem to remember that it was mentioned as an interpreter/compiler.
Instead of wasting time over discussing which features to "import" from Phix, you will all be better off mulling over why Python is so universally accepted and adopted, and Euphoria remains obscure. Then go ahead and rectify the situation.

Instead of wasting time ...
FOSS works because it's developed by the people who are interested in it or otherwise need to develop it.
In other words, we might be wasting time, but it's our time to waste.
mulling over why Python is so universally accepted and adopted, and Euphoria remains obscure.
I think Ray Smith hit the nail on this over 10 years ago: http://openeuphoria.org/forum/m/45724.wc
Sure, OpenEuphoria is open source now, but it was really late in the game compared to Python, Ruby, Lua, etc. Python was really early in the game, so it was able to secure the big bucks that made it into what it is today.
And is it really that much more obscure than C-- or Cylon (for example) ?
Then go ahead and rectify the situation.
you will all be better off
Why? How?
I'll finish with some wise words from Ray:
In the end if your not happy with Euphoria you can either help make it better or go somewhere else. Everyone has a choice.
I'll add that simply stating obvious statements like "Euphoria isn't as big as language D" or incendiary ones like "Euphoria sucks compared to language B" are worse than being unhelpful - they distract from the goal of making Euphoria better.

I was simply trying to make some useful suggestions for the improvement of Euphoria. If you don't like my suggestions or don't find them helpful, just ignore them. I really don't understand your aggressive tone in calling them "wasting time".

Or any other language, for that matter. But you'll quickly run into the optomisation for niche issues, standards, and clique inertia. While i admire your desire to improve Euphoria, this is the point when people start their own programming language.

useless, what do you mean by "this is the point when people start their own programming language". Are you implicitly advocating it? Just to be clear.

Well, my comment to this thread was routed to a different thread, and then another post i made was deleted. One great point about starting your own language and website is you can also control the forum.
