@developers:
Is it possible to add a indication of the say 3 top posters and post count each, on the message index?
The idea being to help some of us spot at a glance certain criteria whould would save us the time of looking at that thread?
Specifically, to identify what we may consider as trolling behaviour. That way, each decides on his/her own whats trolling.

Those are a couple of good ideas. Although, I'd much rather have a forum like vbulletin. It would keep track of user's posts and post count. Users would have a rep system. Users could have an avatar and signature. A friends/enemies list. These are some things I think would be cool for a new euphoria bulletin board if it were to be developed.

I don't understand. If trolls post the most, then you'd be wanting to read those people who seldom post? Conversely, if trolls post the least, why go out of the way to write a new message board, when to avoid them you use the page-down key on your keybd?

What would be the basis for assigning reputation to a person or post?
Basically vBulletin and other reputable forum software have these features. I think they are much more in tune with the needs of people in a forum than we are. We are more aware of what each one of us needs and it will vary with the individual concerned.
So I would say a world class forum, with the following facilities (which do not exist fully currently) is an advantage:
1. post count of individual posters
2. Classification of posts based on subject matter, and a sub-classification based on date of thread.
3. A way to see all posts in the last n days.
4. Colour coding, and highlighting. Font sizes.
5. Mail forwarding adjustable by the individual, whether or not he wants to receive mail. He/she may also disallow mail from individuals he/she does not wish to hear from. "assigning reputation to a person or post" would be an individual's choice within his viewing.
Mods would have right to delete or modify a post or move it to an appropriate section, but should not assign a negative or positive value to a person or and individual post except by posting to notify the readership their own viewpoint about a post. Mods for different sections are desirable, with the limited rights just suggested above.
The super mod would have the right to impose a temporary or permanent ban. In anonymous forums, a degree of autocracy by the supemod is desirable, but autocracy by lower level of mods is undesirable (too many cooks spoil the broth)

One interesting feature I saw was the ability for a forum user to mark a post as helpful. The more users who marked a post as helpful, the higher that post's helpfulness rating went up. It was possible to search for posts by helpfulness, so the most helpful posts would be shown first.
It reminded me of the microeconomy we have, but for forum content instead of for code.
The helpfulness feature was tied to a "thanks" function. I wasn't sure what this was for, but if someone thought your post was helpful, you got a message saying that this user thanked you.
I'm not 100% sure that a feature like that would be appropriate to a programming forum like this. On the other hand, I wouldn't be against it either. (I do see a potential conflict of interest when the majority of posters are moderators/admins themselves, however. :)

"Thanks", "Helpful", "Vote" and similar user controlled features sound very democratic but become use manipulatable. In high usage forums, I have seen "buddy" systems and "kill that guy" mentality which makes these features useless and prone to misuse. Allowing photos also is prone to gross misuse.

I think his point is that he mentally plonks certain people, and seeing someone on his list with a lot of posts in a particular thread would be a quick way for him to identify the thread as something he'd rather ignore.

I lost my password/security question when rebuilding my PC, so sorry for the delay in replying.
I was thinking of a way for myself, and more importantly the Euphoria newbies, to avoid the "I said, you said" non-useful threads.
These threads encourage newbies to move on, I suspect ....
Eg, if I saw a thread with 30 posts, where there is 10 each from 2 persons that are not the original
poster, particularly if one was a person I consider as having a massive chip on thier shoulder IMHO -
(a pity because this person also contributes good code).
A voting system would probably be a source of more clique / buddy accusations, again IMHO.
Its unfortunate that a logical person cannot also see the common factor in most of the "I said, you said" that has gone on here for some time.
Anyway, rather then complaining, I thought to suggest a possible solution.
If it cannot be easily done, no biggie, I can page down as Kat/useless suggested.

Stack overflow has a useful "mark this post as useful" feature.
