Found out that you can use the Glade interface builder to design EuGTK programs - all that is needed after that is to connect your Euphoria routines to the appropriate control signals. This makes things somewhat simpler.
See updated EuGTK library (4.2.0) at http://etcwebspace.com/users/irvm Test201.ex uses Glade.
After some testing, I'll send it to RDS.

Hi Irv
I've been unable to connect to your web page
I've found your web provider to be very flaky over the years, even to the extent of concluding that you had left Euphoria onoccasions.
I hope you aren't paying too much for the service.

It's never failed me. You should ask your provider why they're blocking the site.
Hmm.. I suppose they could be using a flaky DNS, perhaps try: http://66.44.210.252/users/irvm/

Irv, first of all I would like to say thanks for a job well done. You've been a fantastic maintainer of EuGTK over the years. Further, some of your example codes/tests are lessons which I've had a hard time finding anywhere else. Specifically, this one(Drawing Primitives), is especially difficult to find elsewhere and it's right on point with my current project. Also, your "create ()" function is a very welcome enhancement to using GTK. I would hope that one day the GTK devs consider adding some mechanism like that.

I would like anyone here (whether you are interested in EuGTK or not) to try the website and let me know 1. if it works for you, and 2. where you are located.
More than one person has had problems viewing the site, and I'd like to track down the cause.
http://etcwebspace.com/users/irvm
Thanks.

I checked with my host, they know of no reason it wouldn't be accessible unless your isp is blocking. To confirm, they suggest trying http://northganow.com/ which is hosted on the same servers, and see if that works. If it does, and mine does not, that should help them track down the cause of the problem. Also, need to know any error 404 or whatever codes are returned.
And, if northganow doesn't work for you either, then there would be no point in me paying for commercial hosting there, I guess!
Thanks, and the latest version is also available here:
https://sites.google.com/site/m4rm2duk/gtk
(It's too much trouble to put all the pages & images on the google site, and the sourceforge site is even more hassle, that's why I don't bother with it anymore.)

From Comodoro Argentina neither by domain name http://etcwebspace.com/users/irvm nor by the direct IP number method am I able to see your web site. I am behind a NAT router so I couldn't easily check to see what my public IP was.

From Australia, regardless of which browser I use, ...
- When using http://etcwebspace.com/users/irvm my browser never gets a response from your site.
- When using http://northganow.com/ I get Ellijay Telephone Company's home page.

Hi
Both working for me fine now. Unfortunately its one of those most irritating of faults - an intermittent one.

Hi
And today, both not working.
Why aren't you using wikispaces? (No insult intended)

Well, I did sign up for a wiki page: EuGTK
However, I'm not going to post any example code - it's too much work to transfer all the files and screenshots, and rebuild all the pages. Same problem with Google pages, and of course, sourceforge is even worse.

Sourceforge is actually fairly simple (of course, not as simple as doing nothing). Basically, just sftp all of your stuff up there and you're done. Establishing sftp is slightly weird (or was, last time I did it), but the directions are pretty straight forward.

I can get to:
http://66.44.210.252/users/irvm/

http://northganow.com/
If this is a DNS issue, try another DNS server, i use OpenDNS.

Thanks - it appears that the problem is DNS servers which don't know about me. I'll report this to my ISP Monday.
Question - shouldn't anyone anywhere be able to get to the site using the 66.44.210.252 .... or does that have to go thru dns also?

I've posted the latest version on http://eugtk.wikispaces.com which will show how to create a fairly complex program with just a few lines of actual code - the rest is done with the Glade IDE. See screenshot.
Need some feedback on this before I get too deep into it. Thanks,

Very smart - both the site, and the interface.
I also disagree with Matt - wikispaces is far easier to use than sourceforge for the casual user, both in terms of uploading files, and laying out the site - it also is free (like sourceforge)

Well, not surprisingly, since I was busy trying to learn how to use several different free hosts, I left a line out of the latest EuGTK package which keeps it from working.
That line is now back, and you can download the new version from:
- http://sites.google.com/site/m4rm2duk/
One of those just HAS to work for you, dang it!

To be clear, I wasn't referring to wikispaces, which I really didn't know about until you mentioned it. Just pointing out that all you need to do is upload files to sourceforge (for a web page, at least).

Not necessarily. Shared hosting usually doesn't allocate one net-wide ip to each domain. RDS, for instance, could not be accessed by their ip. I don't know if that is still the case, i have not tried. Some hosts no longer offer dedicated ip, i have had domains with and without the dedicated ip.
Also, there's a minimum of two major dns tables: with and without "www". At one time, http://blah" was only for ip, then "www" came along and allowed words, and that feature was back propogated to the "http://blah". Today, you can have different, same, or missing entries in each table. This doesn't even get to the each table being hosted by your favorite dns server. Or your host of the domain's email, irc, etc services.
Personally, i find "www" a waste of time, and i wonder about the intelligence of tv ads that waste money/time saying "www" over and over.
Odd that euphorum added an extra "http" to the urls i gave earlier.

But none of this is directly applicable to etcwebspace.com - the short answer is no, 66.44.210.252 does not go through DNS, and if the problem is only a DNS one, then yes anyone anywhere should be able to get to the site using 66.44.210.252.
However, the nameserver for etcwebspace.com is (sort of) in the same ip block (ns.ellijay.com (66.44.214.214)), so it's possible that the DNS issue might be caused by som other sort of ISP block.
Also, there's a minimum of two major dns tables: with and without "www". Correct, www.etcwebspace.com also works (at least for me). It would be really unusual to have a case where www.etcwebspace.com works but etcwebspace.com does not work, though. (It's possible to set this up deliberately, but if this was due to a DNS bug I'd have expected both to be down (most likely) or only the www subdomain to be down.)

Resolved www.rapideuphoria.com to 38.113.244.13
So by your statement, i should be able to http://38.113.244.13, however, doing so will get you to:
http://www.addr.com/welcome.cgi?redir
And then, http://forum.6502.org/ will take you to a forum about ego and the 6502 cpu, while http://www.forum.6502.org/ won't. Same for http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/tek/. Some places, like http://bchydro.com/ and http://bestbuy.com, will bounce you to their www url. Harborfreight.com once had a www and a ww2, the ww2 was totally different, but now it merely tells you it performed some error.

Nope, not what I said. http://38.113.244.13 works but takes you to a different website than www.rapideuphoria.com, a result of a feature known as Virtual Domains (that you correctly described).
But this isn't applicable to etcwebspace.com, since using the raw ip address instead of the proper domain name returns the same site.

It may very well apply if the host of etcwebspace.com returns nothing, not even a 404, from one server, and http://etcwebspace.com/users/irvm from another server, depending on which is on your path to irv's site at any particular time, possibly due to load balancing.
But i tell you what, you win, i give up.

I suppose the load-balancing argument might apply if they were doing so at the TCP/IP level and the ip address was multicast or something, which would be really unusual. (Most load balancing schemes use DNS Round Robin and would be visible at the DNS level - and etcwebspace.com appears to have only a single ip address associated with it, which rules that out.)
So I'm concluding that etcwebspace.com simply is a dedicated ip/domain, due to the lack of any evidence to the contrary.
