1. Re: Line breaks in forum posts

I know that some people like to specify exactly where to insert a line break in their posts rather than leave that up to the browser. You may be aware that a double back-slash \\ will cause a line break, but it can get a bit tedious if there are many lines involved. There is another way to do it though.

Enclose your text in triple square brackets, like this ...

[[[
some short
lines of
text
]]]

So, triipppllleee uuuppp bbooottthhh [[[ ]]] and {{{ }}}, per example???

Why does what you wrote look like this:

http://imgbin.org/index.php?page=image&id=804

Can't get the url in be inlined in the post...

Ok, i previewed this post, and it's formatted like garbage again. Should i cross post in the other thread about markup?

useless

[hope you don't mind i fixed the markup-euphoric]

The hotlink to the bigger pic isn't working, but i can see you also have the "Home" tab covering up the logo in the banner. I supplied css to fix that, last month?

Thanks for fixing up the post i made, CK.

Huh!? My example has both types of brackets so I can show you what the text that one should type looks like. When one wants to have explicit line breaks you only use the square brackets. When one wants to display triple square brackets without causing line breaks, one encloses them in the no-wiki tag (triple braces). The braces are used in the example to avoid parsing the square brackets inside the example.

But is doesn't look like that. Are you viewing message:109695?

It looks like you did a cut&paste into a new post then edited it rather than replying to an existing post.

Did you include the "http://" part of it?

Another approach could be to use correct markup tags.

Ok, this looks like it's a bug in IE6, not in FF or IE8. I viewed the post you made in all 3, and the blue background can be in any random space depending on page display width, qty of other tabs, and whether it's the first tab or not.
