1. FluidAE 1.0 specs - help wanted

Some of you may have heard of my project, Fluid Application Environment. I am starting the process of writing the specifications for version 1.0. If you want to learn about it, see http://fluidae.com/.

The main goal of the first release of FluidAE will be to provide a powerful and complete Integrated Development Environment for cross-platform development of Euphoria programs with the ability to edit various components and types of files used in application development, such as: graphical interface layout, databases, and document syntax (creole, xml, html, css, il, etc.). My hope is that FluidAE 1.0 will be a useful tool for the Euphoria community. It will use some common libraries that have already been written and will establish other useful libraries and standards that will be freely available to the euphoria community. The most noticeable application for FluidAE will be the IDE. After that, many other applications will be developed over time.

I will be posting some topics/questions about design elements, and I would appreciate some input from the euphoria community. This will help me to design the specifications of version 1.0 before I start writing code. I will begin writing a rough draft of the specs after I get some feedback.

I think this is a pretty cool project. Some ideas I guess would be to have it like Visual Basic IDE, but with Eu, which I think is the goal here. Also, syntax coloring, auto complete would be great.

3. Re: FluidAE 1.0 specs - help wanted

I have written this overview of what FluidAE is and how it can be useful for Euphoria programmers. This is a rough draft, but I'm just trying to explain the basic ideas behind this project to spark some discussion.

http://fluidae.com/euwiki.cgi?DevelopingWithFluidIDE

Euphoria has come a long way with features and standard libraries. Now, personally, my focus is on developing a Euphoria-based application platform which will provide a standard development environment and common elements and standards that developers need to quickly write higher-level graphical applications.

  • What do you think about this?
  • Does this sound like something you would use for your projects?
  • Would you be interested in helping me with this?
  • Do you have any questions or comments?
  • Do you have any ideas or projects that could help with this?

I think its pretty cool. I'd probably use it in some of my projects. I might be able to help you with it. I just think if it was made more like a IDE, something along the lines of Visual Basic or something, then it would be more appleaing to more users. Just my two cents.
