1. cheap computers

Recently, the topic has come up about inexpensive computers, for Achury or LiquidNitrogen, or me.

Check this one out:

http://tinyurl.com/p3q3bx

- Intel D945GCLF2D mini-ITX Motherboard + integrated Intel Atom 330 2x 1.6Ghz
- Dual Core Atom CPU
- 4x Rear USB 2.0
- VGA, Serial and Parallel
- 1x DDR2 533/667 RAM
- 1 x 1x 10/100/1000 Mbit LAN
- Realtek High Definition Audio
- Power: 24 Pin ATX, P4-connector
- RoHS compliant

- $82usd, but you must add memory ($18 1Gbyte), and some power supply, and OS (will probably run winxp and win7 ok).

For running dos (keep your Eu v4.0!):

http://tinyurl.com/p7b8tk

- ALIX3C1 Board with 1 LAN and 2 miniPCI, LX700
- LX-700 with integrated RAM
- CPU: 433 MHz AMD Geode LX700
- DRAM: 128 MB DDR DRAM on board
- Storage: CompactFlash socket
- Power: DC jack or passive POE, min. 7V to max. 20V
- Expansion:2 miniPCI slots, LPC bus
- Connectivity: 1 Ethernet channel (Via VT6105M 10/100)
- I/O: DB9 serial port
- Board size: 100 x 160mm
- Firmware: tinyBIOS

- $89usd. You can add *dos or *nix to it for free (i wouldn't try running winxp on it, maybe win95), and it will run off a car battery.

I am not selling these, i make no offer, i warrant nothing, i am just letting a few interested people know.

I don't think anyone has ported Euphoria to run on the Atom processor.

I believe these are a new kind of x86/x86-64 processor, so they can run the 32bit i386 code with no issues. I.e. there should be no need to especially port Euphoria to run on this type of processor.

4. Re: cheap computers

You buy a cheap board and must to add screen, memory, storage media...

I have studied the theme and decided for eeepc. For a little more price you get the option to use it as laptop, or use it as desktop adding bigger monitor and keyboard.

About Atom, as long as I know is not 64 bits processor, is optimized to use little energy, but is 32 bits.

Via has a 64 bits processor for netbooks, but is not so popular as Intel or AMD.
