1. Win32Lib 0.45m Bleeding Edge

I've posted the Win32Lib 0.45m 'Bleeding Edge' update at:

   http://www.lanset.com/dcuny/win32.htm#BleedingEdge

Features include:

   - FIX.EX pre-binding program updated to Euphoria 2.2 keywords
   - TrackBar increments correctly
   - Fixes for child controls of TabControl
   - New getFontDialog (thanks to Judith Evans)

Beta testers, have at it! I'm hoping it's finally stable.

Known issues:

1. system_exec() still doesn't behave properly. It's got to be something
I've done, because it works in older releases. I'll try to track this down
this weekend.

2. One user reports problems consistantly occur while running Explorer -
system fonts being corrupted, etc. I've never personally encountered this
problem, nor heard any other similar reports, so I can't duplicate or verify
this.

3. NT seems to be treating fonts differently. I haven't had a chance to
verify this.

Finally, I'd like to know how well the library runs under Wine. Wine used to
report a mismatched open/closeDC error when running Win32Lib applications,
and that *should* be fixed. Since I toasted Linux a couple weeks ago (flakey
hardware), the Wine site seems to be perpetually off-line, so I haven't been
able to reload it.

Thanks!

I've been able to duplicate this problem. sad

Apparently Win32Lib doesn't play nice with with Windows Explorer. I didn't
see any problems while running Explorer, but then lists in various *other*
applications started defaulting to the system font. The problem continues
even after Explorer is shut down. Unfortunately, I can't consistantly
duplicate the problem.

I haven't seen this sort of behavior running any other Windows applications.
In fact, I've never seen this sort of behavior at all. My only guess is that
this has something to do with setDefaultFont, but that's just a wild guess.

Does anyone know:

1. Is this a new bug, or has it existed in Win32Lib for a while?
2. Are there any other programs that cause this problem?
3. Is there a way to consistantly trigger this behavior?

Thanks!

David,

>1. Is this a new bug, or has it existed in Win32Lib for a while?

I'm using 0.44e, & I have noticed problems while online, but not with fonts.
I just stopped running Euphoria/Win32Lib programs while I was online,
without thinking any more about it. What I noticed was that on opening an
application, stuff in other open windows would flicker on top about a
second after app window open, & then the other stuff would go away. There
was a disk access made at about the same time.

Opening another window in same app results in some kind of screen re-write
that leaves stuff that was in the window being erased, & subsequent opening
of that window leaves it re-sized.

I don't notice any FONT problems while online using 0.44e, though.

Does 0.45n takes care of it? If not, I'll try to duplicate it.

Thanks!

5. Re: Win32Lib 0.45m Bleeding Edge

David,

Well, the problem does occur with 0.45n, but I think it derives from me
making my app window full size to cover the taskbar, and when online the
taskbar regularly reasserts itself (?), making my window resize, so it's
probably not a Win32Lib problem at all.

Sorry I didn't think of that before I mentioned it.
