There are some programs on the EUPHORIA main site that compress
sequences written to disk. EDOM, from Ralf, comes immediately to mind,
but I know there are others... Perhaps these codes will make the writing
and reading of sequences to disk more efficient, and therefore better
able to handle the needs of a database.
