ummmm... there's nothing wrong with your code...
using the above, and a gif called 'title.gif'
i did:

gm(18)
gif("title.gif",{0,0})
while get_key()=-1 do end while
gm(-1)

and it did what you would expect... shrug...
is it the picture maybe? try another gif...???
