df (short for disk-free) shows used/free (k) and percentage remaining.
df -m shows it in megs

For browser/explorer/desktop (better than Microsoft!) try KDE. It's completely
integrated with the web - you can browse local directories, click on folders,
connect to the web or an ftp server, and things look just like they do on your
local computer (just a little slower). You can even edit and save files over
the web (if you have permission and passwords to do so). Also drag and drop
files from websites onto your desktop (or the other way around, if allowed).
That's what I used to make the desktop jpeg on the website (the one with the
circuit board backdrop)

Netscape is also available, but it's big, slow, and buggy.
