There were some really dumb things that were done in that period. Off the top of my head:

  • Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Expanding Medicare without fixing it
  • Expanding the Federal role in education (i.e., No Child Left Behind)
  • Expanding the distortion of the mortgage market
  • Unconstitutional restriction of free speech
