So far, Ive been able to do most of the things with Euphoria that I could possibly want to. Except for one thing... I bet it'd take a real genious to do this one, so... I need an .e file to read JPEGs! I can do everything else, just not that!!! If anyone can help with this, please respond. --James Begley

I'd also like to see a JPEG loader. How about a JPEG writer? It's a free license. I COULD try to do that, but I'm not promising anything. After all, you can post your programs onto my new mailing list, ZIPped or otherwise. By the way, does anyone here have Mix Software Power C? - Nate James Begley wrote: > So far, Ive been able to do most of the things with Euphoria that I could > possibly want to. No, Bonn, your absolutely wrong. It's the GIF file format that you need a license for, not the JPEG. How come the JPEG guys give the source code away to read and write the JPEG format for free then? - Nate Brooman [nateb at log.on.ca] bonn ortloff wrote: > >Date: Tue, 18 Aug 1998 10:06:28 -0700 > >Reply-To: Euphoria Programming for MS-DOS > <EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU> > >From: James Begley <jizim at GEOCITIES.COM> > >Subject: JPEG Hell!!! > >To: EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU > > > >So far, Ive been able to do most of the things with Euphoria that I > could > >possibly want to. Some company (which won't be named here) wants everybody to pay to use the GIF format. That's why jpg's and png's are replacing gif's on the Web. Now, if you can find a copy of the source code - it will be in C, I'll bet, - so translation to Euphoria should be no big deal. Take a look around, see what you can find. Irv

I once thought of creating a JPEG reader, but could not find any file format specification to guide me. Anyway, to make a JPEG reader useful, I think someone would have to write a routine to convert from RGB to 256-color (unless you are using one of the truecolor modes). BTW, I am currently working on a PNG reader, but could none of my image editing softwares saves PNG images, so it's hard for me to test my routines. Does anyone know of a good (freeware) program that can save PNGs?
