Installed EUPHORIA from .zip download, installed into C:\EUPHORIA through DOS, screen showed files being installed, at the end it said to have fun. I was asked to approve any changes to my autoexec.bat file. My autoexec.bat after (reboot) shows: C:\>SET EUDIR=C:\EUPHORIA C:\>SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\EUPHORIA\BIN;C:\EUPHORIA\BIN C:\> I MUST ADMIT I DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT DOS/just started with computers abt. 1 year now When I go into DOS to open EUPHORIA C:\>CD:\EUPHORIA C:\EUPHORIA>EX file name to execute?EX BUZZ or EX LW etc. Tells me can't open BUZZ.EX or EX LW etc. The only way I can get EUPHORIA to work for me is if I take all files out of their folders and put them into the C:\EUPHORIA\Bin folder. And to edit these files I have to also put them into the C:\EUPHORIA folder. Can you PLEASE tell me what am I doing wrong? EUPHOR DIR Shows 5 file(s) 33,818 bytes 7 dir(s) 611,549,184 bytes free What am I doing Wrong with (EUPHORIA) ??? THANK YOU MICHAEL MORDENTI mmore at ptd.net

Type: cd euphoria\demo ex buzz And it will start up buzz. You have to be in the directory where your program is you want to open, or at least specify that directory: For example: ex c:\euphoria\demo\buzz Will also work. Hope this helps. Ralf

You have to log into the demo directories or put them in your PATH. ------------------------------------- When it comes to programming languages, Euphoria is a cut above - matt1278 at juno.com and matt1421 at juno.com(and soon to be irisnmatt at prodigy.net. Then again, maybe not) Euphoria programmer ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I since ralf already showed you how to fix your dilemma, i won't, but instead, i'll welcome you to the world of computers and programming. You mentioned you've been only using computers for about a year, have you done any programming yet? If not, Euphoria may very well be the _best_ language to learn to program with. It's a fantastic teaching/learning language. And it's quite fun, and extremely powerfull. Hopefully, you have been getting the listserv for the past week or so, as Alan Tu has been authoring a rather nice introduction to Euphoria and programming in general. Please let us know if you haven't seen those messages, and I'm sure one of us can resend them to you. Another thing good for starting out, take some time, sit down, and slowly, carefully, read RefMan.Doc. Do not worry if you don't grasp the entire file right off. Heh, very few of us, including the experienced programmers of the group, fully digested the sublety on first read. But it's very helpfull to read that file first, then begin working with the David Gay "beginners guide to euphoria" tutorial. As an anecdote, my wife, who has had very little programming experience, worked with that tutorial and became able to 'tinker', if you will... Enjoy, have fun, ask questions, and one day, you'll be the one answering questions in this forum... take care--Hawke'
