Matt writes: > i won language wars, and took a snapshot of it! here: > i won.!!!: Congratulations! As far as I know, you and I are the only ones to have ever won. I hope you were playing at the "expert" level. In my leisure time, as a break from the ugly C coding I'm doing for ex.exe and exw.exe, I've developed a new version of Language Wars that runs in mode 18 using nice-looking pixel graphics, instead of the current boring text-mode graphics. It also uses much more parallelism, so for instance you might see multiple phasors and torpedos, all moving across the screen *simultaneously*, at the same time that ships are moving etc. etc. I've removed *all* delay loops - A task never "spins its wheels" - it always returns to the scheduler to allow another task to run. Even the sound effects (sorry, still using PC speaker) happen in parallel with everything else, e.g. a task sets the sound() frequency and returns to the scheduler, then any other tasks can run for a short time, then after the appropriate time has passed, the task sets the sound() frequency to a new value, or turns it off. I still have to polish it and test it, but it will be in the next release of Euphoria (not sure exactly when). Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://members.aol.com/FilesEu/

I was playing in the novice level, and it's not modified. btw, when i try to break out of language wars with ctrl+c, it makes my computer reboot without notice. ------------------------------------- When it comes to programming languages, Euphoria is a cut above - matt1278 at juno.com Euphoria programmer _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I have. *Bows* Just to make sure, I just did it again. :) (Don't remember if it was Expert or not, my modified version, or not. [My modified version changes some graphics and the names go from programming languages to Star Wars craft, as well as more planets and 3 Super Star Destroyers {C++}]) (I did it on the Expert level, of course :) I think having the C++ go down with a well placed anti-matter explosion early in the game helped . . . (As well as 2 bases on the starting screen :) Now you know for sure you are not the only Elite StarShipEuphoria Captain... ;) Has anybody else beaten it on Expert? (Some captain's logs would be interresting, too. :) (Can't wait for the next version of Euphoria so I can get the new version of LW...) _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. kewl. if only i could get the net, then i could surf on in. but my puter happens to be busted, and what i thought was gonna fix it actually made it reboot. ok, i tried reinstalling win95 under windows, then it gave me the blue screen. Then i tried under DOS, it complained about the file number -1(an error code, i think), then when i typed exit to go back into windows, my computer rebooted. the cd came from someone at a pasta plant(they have computers there). my sister detected a whole bunch of scratches on it. ------------------------------------- When it comes to programming languages, Euphoria is a cut above - matt1278 at juno.com and matt1421 at juno.com(and soon to be irisnmatt at prodigy.net. then again, maybe not) Euphoria programmer _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Win does not malfunction due to scratches. That maybe what MS tells you.. haha.. no no.. because its still not finished. They just keep releasing it all.. win98 is just win3.17 + ms. 5.34 They dont change much more than remove some bugs, some version to some year or increase the version number with a whole number. And off course charge the full price again.. Ralf
