After trying different ways to talk to my modem, with little success, I found the following: "There are, of course, BIOS and DOS routines for serial com- munications, but these are weak, and are not used in serious programs. The SERIOUS device driver is intended to fill this gap." Norman J. Goldstein Mr. Goldstein has thoughtfully written a comm driver for dos, which may solve the problem (fully interrupt driven). Might be the way to get multi- player games going? A copy is posted on my web page http://www.mindspring.com/~mountains for you to experiment with. Filename is serous221.zip Irv -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tired of Nutscope and Internet Exploder? Filename is serous221.zip I believe there was something written back in the 286/386 days called a FOSSIL driver that accomplished various serial port needs (esp. with regard to a modem).
