Does anyone have a newer database access programme than the Dbase one =

files.

Hi, Nick I'm working on a solution for a simple Euphoria database
toolbox. It has index file functions to open(), close(), create(),
insertkey(), deletekey(), findkey(), searchkey(), nextkey(). Multiple
index files possible. I planned to use the database routines of
ARCHITEK you just mentioned to complete the toolbox.

In the mean time I'm looking at information about the ODBC.dll and to
use them with E.

Fabio Ramirez posted a Euphoria wrapper for MySQL about a month ago.
It appears to be complete. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, however.
MySQL is (mostly) free, and is widely used to handle large databases.
The addresses I have for Fabio are:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/
Try here for info on ODBC.dll. Cant tell you for sure if there is anything
useful, but there may well be. Also try the microsoft knowledge base.
Is this database access library you are writing going to be platform
independent, or will it be windows/dos based?

5. Re: Dbase database access

Thanks Nick,

This evening I'm a litlle down. I read a lot about ODBC (I had the help files
already on my system) and the way of calling them. Years ago I stopped with C
programming because of the difficulty of its ++ system smile. Now I have to study
a lot of C-calls and see all the constant and macro declarations (guessing what
my lay behind) again for accessing a f...king DLL that gives me an "independend"
access to ODBC.

If everybody is going to be programming in Euphoria just to access those
MicroSofffff DLL's there will be nothing left of the beatiful language as
Euphoria. Euphoria will be degrade to an DLL calling language. Someday I might
change my mind.

It had to be said. Thank anyway for your information Nick.

Marcel
