Guess you're right. Sorry about that. I always have been the experimental type. However, I thought mIRC was strictly text... I'll start searching for some explanation... Hawke wrote: ummmm... it's NOT a mirc server, nor an ftp server, nor a GMUD server, nor a http server. EUServ1.50 is a -telnet- server, for text. period. one day it may be more than that, but until then, doing all these 'wierd' things with it might actually buy you a few lost clusters and it's NOT recommended to try, nor is it recommended to entice others to try. as far as this being a bug, it's not. this is like saying paint shop pro has a bug in it because it can't spell check a word perfect document. if you wish to risk using a tool for the wrong reason, and bust a knuckle when it slips, that is your perogative. asking others to do the same is *very* bad form. if you can connect to EUServ, via 'windows' telnet, TeraTerm, or any other *telnet* software, (not mud clients, mirc clients, game clients, or other such thing) and you can type something that causes EUServ to crash, that would be a bug, and myself and others would be interested in hearing about it. --Hawke' -- James Begley We're all stars now.

D/l'ed v1.64 today at work, and looked at some of the posts Hawke' wrote about it. Without looking too hard at the code, it seems that this proggie pretty much works with only .exw files? I hope not, because with a little needling, it would make a good interface for telnetting to a dos bbs (using something like Turbocomm to allow the dos program to use virtual port in winbloze). Reason I ask is that I have been workin on and off (alot more off!) with a mud-like bbs game, and I could make it fit the Euserver AND bbs software with hopefully little modification. The only reason I would like to be able to interface a bbs thru Euserver is to demo my door on a bbs, to work out bugs, etc. This would give the game a greater user base than just having it on Euserver. (Not hoping to make big $$, I know bbs scene is on life support, just a goal!) I'm no super genius coder (get very little time, blah) but perhaps I can hack Euserver to work like this...then again mebbe not! Merry Christmas! Kevin

I think EuServer runs over Winsock... if you can manage to recode it to use a DOS based TCP stack your done! Regards, Daniel Berstein daber at pair.com

With Euserver, I was hoping to be able to leave of the com/ip and therefore not be limited by just the number of virtual com ports I can set up. I don't know enough of networking nor TCP/IP to make me dangerous, but it seems something of this nature could be done. For example, for awhile I ran dos based Telemate (comm program) with turbocomm and com/ip and was able to telnet with dial up networking. With Euserver I wanted the ability for more 'ports' but alas I will be limited now by the 28.8 connection I have...wish we had cable modems here. Merry Christmas!! Kevin
