1. Dumb (?) Newcomer Question

Dear Euphoria users,

I am new to Euphoria and to PC's, so I hope this does not sound like a
stupid question? Is there anyway to change defualt fonts on a text
editor? I am using WordPad as my text editor, when coding in Euphoria.
It comes up in Times New Roman each time, I know I can change this each
time I open WordPad, I would however like to have it come up in a
defualt font of my choosing. This there anyway of doing this? I am
very new to all this, so I hope this is not a dumb question, it is not
totally a Euphoria question, but I have just started using David Gay's
tutorial this week. I hope someone can help me, sorry again if this is
a dumb newcomer question.

Hello, and welcome.
First of all, I really suggest you download Dave Cuny's text-gui
package from the RDS web site. Dave includes a great Euphoria
development environment written in Euphoria
The editor (ee) has colored syntax hilighting, a "subroutine"
window so you can jump right to the point you want to edit,
multi-file edition, automatic "help" for Euphoria keywords,
and it interfaces with the error routines - takes you right
to the point of your error. I rate this package as a nust!

Sorry, not a clue. I no longer have Windows on my pc.

/me waves too

If you really want to use a (standard) Windows editor for Euphoria, may I
suggest Notepad? Wordpad is basically a Mini-WordProcessor, and not
exactly suitable for programming. It's like taking the proverbial
sledgehammer to crack a nut :)

As for changing the default font; I could never get this to work with
Write under Windows 3.xx [ICAWW; Write runs under 9x too if you have the
executable].

First check all the menu options, then check the helpfiles, *then* if
you're gutsy, see if it's in the Registry.

<Blatant_Plug>
Or try my mod of EE and the toolkit that allows changing of the Syntax
Colours, a functional "Default" colours button, a toggleable clock (F10)
and a mouse that works in text modes above 25 lines.

Follow the URL below, click "The Euphoria Page" and then click the
Text_Gui link (#2) to download.

Oof! DOS but no Windows, Irv? That's (almost) like Linux without X!

Yes. When I deleted Windows, I lost a lot of things. Some that
come to mind are:
 1. The lovely "Blue Screen of Death"
 2. Cryptic messages such as "program x has performed an illegal operation
at #0a48c04:fu2b00b00 and must be shut down"
 3. The cute but ubiquitous hourglass cursor.

Need I go on?

Irv
