He said love your enemies, but don't sit down to dinner with them. Just because you are a christian doesn't mean you have to be a wimp, or that you have to hide your feelings and/or thoughts. As a christian who used to be an atheist, I have seen both sides, and I am disgusted by athiests who dog on christians just because of their beliefs, but I am also disgusted by christians who believe that witnessing requires proselytizing everywhere at all times - and *not* having meaningful discourse about their beliefs. If someone asks, I'm glad to tell them why I believe as I do, and if the subject comes up, I'll discuss it then too. However, I don't go around preaching at people and telling them they are going to hell. That never worked on me when I was an atheist, so why should it work on anyone else, especially the intelligent types who congregate around computer programming. So, if X doesn't think Y's jokes are funny, he can tell him so. But if he is doing it mean-spiritedly, then he is not living up to his own ethical code. And regarding Jiri's comments - before I became a christian, I took a *special* delight in baiting them. It's *so* easy.... -Jay >>> Ad Rienks <Ad_Rienks at COMPUSERVE.COM> 11/06/98 11:11am >>> >Jiri, I would've guessed that about you: That you're a rude, crude, >senile old man who has nothing better to do than insult people.
