I'm really thinking about porting DOOM's source code to Euphoria. Before I start, do you think Euphoria would be able to run the game fast enough? Or am I just dreaming? Peter Millan robotnik at optusnet.com.au

Yes, Euphoria is fast enough, on modern hardware. In the days between Do= om and Quake, Michael Abrash bragged about writing machine language routines= that would write a million pixels per second. I can write Euphoria code which does 3.5 - 4 million pixels per second on my 300 Mhz Pentium (a slo= w computer by today's standards). How is this possible? Partly because of= Euphoria's speed, but mainly because the CPU and video hardware speeds ha= ve improved a lot since Doom was running on 386 and 486 computers. Colin
