--=====================_4337875==_.ALT Steve, I decided to restate your zen law and add to it... Mosher's Law of Programming: There are only two things in the world: code and desire. The desire shapes the code. The words in the code do not exist. The body of the coder does not exist. Nor does the keyboard, the monitor, even the text editor does not exist. This usually happens at 4 or 5 am [when everything appears to be an illusion]. Crook's observations on Mosher's Law of Programming: The desire shapes the code and the code shapes the desire. Everything else really IS an illusion. Anyone else want to add to this?.... --=====================_4337875==_.ALT
Steve,
decided to restate your zen law and add to it...

Mosher's Law of Programming: There are only two things in the world: code and desire.
The desire shapes the code. Wow, I like it =). When I first read the subject, I thought it was someone pointing out a hole in my paradigm -- which is what usually happens when I shoot my mouth off ;). Instead, I'm flattered, thanks. --=====================_2830577==_.ALT Your's was one of the best discriptions I've read of late that appropriately describes a programming session. Although for me (of late) I've spend hours in the zen repose of code only to find when I return to the "real" world, the code has faded leaving me with the realization that all the time I spend with it was in truth the sound of one hand clapping... the middle of my forehead... Remember: It is easy to curse, but to re-curse it must be self-referential... At 11:10 AM 02/20/2000 -0400, you wrote: > Wow, I like it =). Probably because I was in the middle of a 22-hour run, that was broken only twice for food. =) > Although for me (of late) I've spend hours in the zen repose of code only to > find when I return to the "real" world, the code has faded leaving me with the > realization that all the time I spend with it was in truth the sound of one > hand clapping... the middle of my forehead... I've been getting seriously deep lately, a while ago I wrote some code and tried to find a certain function. Since I know how I code, I looked for certain trademark givaways about that kind of function. But when I finally found it, I found style-less code, the product of pure zen. I did not recall writing a single line of it, and it was more efficient than what I'd normally write. 'Twas a pleasant suprise. > Remember: > It is easy to curse, but to re-curse it must be self-referential... Da.
