I'm about to get one of those monitor screens that protect your eyes. Anyone ever used one? Is it much help? Also, is there anything else anyone uses to avoid eyestrain, like eyedrops or something? I'm slightly nearsighted and I'd like to prevent it from getting worse. Thanks, Derek Brown

I don't see how you think your monitor will change your vision. Your vision is a function of the shape of your eyeball and how It focus light rays on your retina. As you age the eyeball can change shape or you can get caracts that will change your vision and this is not cause by your monitor. I would suggest that you see your eye doctor. As far as your monitor goes it can tire your eyes with flickering which you may not realize is happening. You should use a monitor that is NON-INTERLACED and have a refresh rate greater than 70HZ. I think the filter will only seem to mask the flicker. Bernie

True! I would add some hints: - avoid white backgrounds and strong contrast - avoid those damned animated gifs !! - choose a resolution that lets you see enough lines on your windows (cause scrolling a lot is Very bad for eyes) Riwal Raude rauder at thmulti.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Bernie Ryan [SMTP:bwryan at PCOM.NET] > Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 1999 4:03 PM > To: EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU > Subject: Re: Protecting your eyes at the computer > > I don't see how you think your monitor will change your vision. > Your vision is a function of the shape of your eyeball and how It > focus light rays on your retina.
