Forked from Search other than days old google
This forum needs a search capability other than Days old use of google. There are times when I would like to search for something someone else has stated recently that I had missed. I get wind of the conversation but don't know where it is. They many days old search of google is not feasible for obtaining the desired information until the conversation has long been forgotten.
Today I deployed a new search system. It currently only supports searching News, Forum and Tickets. The Wiki and the Manual still use the google search engine.
I am running late but will write up a proper doc on how to use the new search a bit later. For a full reference of how to search, please see: Full Text Searches.
Just for quick searches, a term of john doe will get either john or doe. +john +doe will get matches that contain both john and doe. +john -doe will get matches with john but not doe. You can do all sorts of other cool things making one search term more revelant than another, doing grouped expressions, etc... I'll write more later.

This is excellent. I missed being able to search for things I know I'd posted before.
Suggestions:
- Can the results be returned based on our preference for topic list vs. message list?
- Could the result links add "&highlight=john+doe" to the query, such that the page highlights the keywords?

Both of those are good suggestions. Can you add them to the ticket system so they are not forgotten or lost?
