To solve the Euphoria Com I/O issue how about this:

Use one of the many standard "FOSSIL" drivers.  Like X00/BNU
(DOS), SIO (OS/2), or one of the many windoze flavors.

FOSSIL drivers are available that handle the annoying low
level driver junk like handling Interrupt Hooks.

What would be needed from the Euphoria side would be a
wrapper to hook into the FOSSIL standard.
