Re: Examiner

Finally got a few moments to examine the new examiner. Anyway, I noted
that it has a whole lot of new stuff, and of course a few glitches to go with
the new stuff.

Once you click on anything in a line, it stays clicked no matter how
many other things are clicked in that line. It displays the latest clicked
item in the change field and title, but all the fields that have been clicked
stay blue.

There is a line skipped between segments...if one segment ends with
350, the next one starts with 352, etc.

There is no direct way to go to a new address other than by knowing it's
segment or just paging through segments.

The bit display is a nice touch, though I have not been able to test it
on change. It sure would be nice if the bit displays could be narrowed to
a table-like format and more bytes could be be displayed on a line at a time.
I'm not good at reading vertically.

If you are interested, there is a one of the most powerful hex-editors that
I have ever seen available free from winfiles.com. It is just called hexedit
and it is free, so it won't cost you anything to take a look and get some
ideas.

The interface and the work are stellar. Are there any tools for sourcing the
VEL. Since Gary has abandoned it, I can't imagine that he would care. The
only problem is that there is no way to ask him. Makes me sad every time
I think about it.
